After presiding over the ceremony of military decorations, General Prayuth said he had talked to Prime Minister and Defense Minister Yingluck Shinawatra about revising the Armed Forces Reserve Act. He said he wanted to see the Army Reserve students, who in the past have been exempted from military services, serve the nation both in time of war and at peace time; for example, during disasters and crises as well as in other circumstances.
General Prayuth also delivered a speech to the new graduates, saying soldiers have to be united and loyal to their nation. He also told them to go home with pride as they have just been decorated, adding that these students are the reserve forces the country needed.
The ceremony took place at the Thai Army Club where a total of 1,753 students, 806 male and 947 female, were decorated.
