9 hurt in Plutaluang highway wreck

Nine people were injured when a steel-carrier truck crashed while trying to overtake another vehicle on Highway 331 in Plutaluang.

Seven people inside an Isuzu MU-7 SUV – including five teenagers – were hurt in the Jan. 24 wreck near Baan Eak Thani 5 in the Sattahip sub-district, along with the driver and passenger in the small Suzuki truck that collided with it.

Nine people were injured when the truck (left) tried unsuccessfully to overtake another vehicle on Highway 331 and crashed head-on into the Isuzu MU-7 SUV (right).

Police said the unidentified driver of the steel carrier had tried to overtake the Khon Kaen-registered SUV, but failed, causing both vehicles to crash. The driver sustained critical injuries and a 24-yea-rold Cambodian passenger identified as Komtee also was hurt.

Injured in the big Isuzu truck was driver Wantana Thanuth, 43, five 17-year-old and one 16-year-old passengers.

All involved were rushed to the Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center.
