Public Relations Office 7 held a workshop for Chonburi provincial publicists to help them better understand international PR.

Chonburi Permanent Secretary Phawat Lertmukda welcomed Duangman Srikitwilaikul, director of PR Office 7 in Chantaburi to the June 24 workshop attended by about 500 people.

The office is organizing discussions with various organizations, both government and private, and the press, in order to create cooperation and to acknowledge problems, obstacles and suggestions on enhancing the mechanisms of public relations operations.

Duangman said the seminars enhance understanding of international public relations to take into account the current economy, investment and tourism situations. Furthermore, another proposal was to acknowledge troubles, obstacles and suggestions to enhances operation.

The morning workshop comprised a forum on the direction of public relations in the eastern region to enhance the image of Thailand. Speakers included Phawat, Jomrong Singtongam, deputy permanent secretary for the government’s Public Relations Department, Suwapan Jantasarawiwat, president of the Chonburi Industry Council, Suladda Sarutilavan, director of Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Pattaya office, and Kanakorn Prakobchaichana, mass communications officer at Thailand Radio Chonburi.

The afternoon featured a lecture on making guidelines on international public relations to enhance Thailand’s image by assistant professor Panom Klichaya from Chulalongkorn University.

Phawat said that a pro-active seminar could lead to proper policy and measures to support the region in the ASEAN Economic Community.
