A chartered flight landed at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport from Cairo at 8.35am carrying 123 Thais evacuating the Egyptian capital.
Buses from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security’s Prachabodee Operations Center transferred the evacuees to different places.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Nattawut Pothisaro told reporters that the situation in Egypt remained unstable despite having no new mass demonstrations. However, the protest against Egyptian army’s July 3 coup every Friday could escalate and make it hard for people to live normal lives.
Mr Nattawut also said the last batch of 48 Thai nationals fleeing Egypt is scheduled to arrive in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport at 8.35am on Sunday. The Thai embassy in Egypt will continue to help arrange for evacuations on request.
