170 Songkhla policemen dispatched in ‘The Six’ initiative to crack down on crime during Songkran

SONGKHLA, 2 April 2013  With Songkran holiday fast approaching, many provinces have prepared special entertaining activities for the public, as well as additional security provision for the period. In Songkhla province, Immigration Police are to crackdown on crimes that exploit the festive holiday period. 

Police Major General Sakda Chuenphakdi, deputy commissioner of the Immigration Police Bureau, chaired the launch of a crimes suppression initiative titled ‘The Six’, in Songkhla province. Under the campaign, 170 policemen from the provincial, highways, and tourist police divisions in Songkhla are conducting special patrols and surveillance to boost safety for tourists and the public. They also aim to crack down on criminals who utilize the holiday period to commence illegal acts, as well as on human traffickers and illegal migrant laborers who also swing into action during the Songkran period when numerous people commute.
