Re: The “greatest” dodged the draft (PM Mailbag June 10, 2016) – Cassius Clay did not “dodge the draft.” When it was obvious that he would be drafted, he joined the Black Muslims, and declared conscientious objector status. After a long court battle, he was given this status. (Of which I do not agree). But, even though you have this status, under U.S. draft laws, you still had an obligation to serve your country in a public service, non-combat law for two years, same as a draftee. He also refused to serve this obligation.
