Clapton didn’t disappoint

Editor;

Re: Clapton fans… (PM 25 January 2011). Clapton is the guitar god we came to see (in Bangkok February 2011), and he didn’t disappoint. He played with intensity and precision; no phoning it in here. It was telling that even the people in the good seats repeatedly looked back up over their shoulders to watch the close-ups of Clapton’s hands when the appeared on the overhead screens for those in the more-distant seats.

An acoustic portion of the show felt like the band was hanging out on a front porch, and the bluesy stuff rocked. Clapton played more songs from his time with Derek and the Dominos - Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad? and Nobody Knows When You’re Down, and a fiery rendition of Motherless Children was a fine choice from his solo career.

    Why is this mail about a letter dated Jan 2011 in the papers today ?
    Regardless I went to this concert (last year), I agree, Clapton is the master but this show was an absolute flop with respect to resepecting his audience. The atmosphere was rubbish. The people in the expensive seating in front of the stage wouldn't have a good time if it came and twigged them around the back of the ear. If I remember they paid over 4k baht to try and look their best and sit there with their hands in their laps. So overall, music was good as I really enjoy his latest album but the atmosphere would be better at a funeral.
