Another noisy Halloween

Editor;

For the second time in two years, I have just had to endure the Pattaya Halloween concert. Not only did the music blare out until 1.30 a.m. for the two nights but the rehearsals and equipment testing started around 11.00 in the morning and carried on till the concert started.

I could understand the need for a central location on Beach Road if it was an international concert but this is a 100% Thai affair, a concert for Thai people by Thai people. There is nothing wrong with that, Thai people deserve their entertainment like everyone else but why locate it in the middle of the tourist area of the city where it will annoy and infuriate tourists who have paid up to 3000 baht a night, only to be forced to listen to outrageous decibels? Would it not make more sense to locate the concert in Sattahip, Nong Nooch, Naklua or a dozen other places?

This concert will not attract one new Farang visitor and there is a good chance that it will drive many away. Pattaya City Council are always saying that they want to attract more families – can you imagine what it must be like to have young children, who are staying in hotels like the Tropicana, Hard Rock, Montien, Discovery, etc, kept awake till 1.30 a.m. for two nights in a row.

For those who perpetually say “if you don’t like it, go home”, I say you’re right and I personally will never again come to Pattaya in the month of October.
