Women’s Development Group offers vocational training

More than 50 women learned decoupage and pineapple carving as the Pattaya Women’s Development Group offered occupational training to members.

Group President Naowarat Khakhay hosted the Dec. 4 meeting at Pattaya City Hall where members learned the art of decorating the surface of objects with paper, as well as pineapple carving. Lectures were provided by Pak Nam Krasare of Rayong and pineapple-crafts experts from Panthong.

The group’s idea was that members could create products that can be marketed through city hall’s proposed “Pattaya brand” program, which seeks to market unique, locally made items from the city’s 38 communities.

The Pattaya Women’s Development Group was formed to develop Pattaya women gain knowledge and skills to be self-dependent, founders said.
