The Nov. 13 trip was the latest outreach effort by the military to Muslims in Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani. Military leaders hope it can help quell the violence that has left more than 7,000 people dead since 2004.

Hosted by Alhouda Masjid of Ban Tao Taan Sattahip, Imam Nipon Haemserm, Imam of Alhouda Masjid of Ban Tao Taan Sattahip community, and 34 religious leaders from 34 sub-districts in Narathiwat and Pattani attended.
Vice Adm. Sonthaya Noichaya said the trip is hoped to foster positive attitudes among the Muslim leaders and show them the works the military has done in their region.
