It took two days, but authorities finally collared a wayward crocodile who took up residence near Pattaya Kart Speedway off Thepprasit Road.

More than 30 people, including crocodile specialists from the Million Years Stone Park & Crocodile Farm and animal handlers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, brought boats and even water pumps to the lake on Thepprasit Soi 9.

More than 100 people crowded the scene, keeping an eye out for the gator Dec. 2, but it remained allusive. The lake is larger than a rai of land and filled with vegetation, making it nearly impossible to find the croc.

Authorities blocked off the area and returned the next day with plans to drain the lake if it didn’t surface.

It never came to that, however. Crews on land and water found the crocodile hiding under a tree in the water. Using water pumps to drain the local area, they wrangled the gator and transported it to the crocodile farm.
