A retired American teacher died after suffering an apparent heart attack in his North Pattaya apartment.

The body of Walter Carl Bolf, 79, was found July 23 lying in bed at the Pattaya Tower Condominium on Soi 4. There were no signs of any assault or robbery.

Pimolrith Kanchanodilok, Bolf’s driver, told police the American had been living in Thailand for 19 years and until recently had been volunteering at a Redemptorist school, teaching English.

However, Pimolrith said, Bolf had resigned from that job due to a heart condition. Police speculated a heart attack killed him, but sent the body to the Forensics Institute for final determination.
