With funding from the NHSO, Pattaya is trying to build a network of community-based health managers who can spread knowledge regarding better health, prevention and treatments and urge people to learn and distribute that knowledge to neighbors.
That, in turn, will lead to more self-dependence and resolve long-term health issues and reduce the number of hospital patients, city officials said.
“Organizing training for volunteers and community leaders as health managers is extremely important for residents of the communities in Pattaya,” Wattana said.
“In having a government representative living in the community, caring for the residents rights, responsibilities and benefits that citizens must receive, allows these individuals to receive public health services. The project has helped the representatives to have knowledge that can be implemented in the community.”
