The shooting occurred when Pattaya traffic police shot at the Toyota Vigo driven by 57-year-old Vagn Zehngraff, trying to stop the truck after it smashed into a motorbike on Jomtien Second Road and ran the checkpoint at the Pratamnak Road intersection.

Officers fired four shots as the truck sped up Pratamnak Soi 5, hitting two tires, but also striking an officer in pursuit.
