Sangkharat told the seniors that aging is a natural phenomenon that is party of a never-ending circle of life.
The lesson is taught by nine monks from Sawang Fah Temple with Deputy Abbot Sangkharat Monthol leading the main sermon.
“When we are born as a living being, as soon as we open our eyes into this world, the avoidable consequences of age, pain and death will follow,” he said. “Therefore, karma, lust and misery become the central barriers to true enlightenment; particularly, sins and karma if not atoned, they will stimulate lust in our mind leading to miserable deeds. The phrase ‘karmic sins are familiarity’ means that karmic sins are due to actions themselves.”
Part of a series of health-promotion activities organized by the city, the activity relieved stress and spurred relaxation, audience members said.
