Pattaya officials offered free eye exams and glasses to the city’s poor.

Deputy Mayor Verawat Khakhay led the July 24 city hall event with executives from the Mahanakhorn optical shop on Chalerm Thai Road in Chonburi. Shop owner Pawit Chotthonawuth performed exams and showed off glasses designs patients could choose from.

The event was well attended, particularly by senior citizens unable to afford glasses.

Verawat said the exams and glasses were another way the city is helping the financially challenged to improve their quality of life.
