Well into the 2nd year of the “Pattaya Team” initiative to improve the security, living conditions and service to area residents, officials say the city’s government has been streamlined to make it ready for coming ASEAN Economic Community.

Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and Chonburi Gov. Khomsan Ekachai met with representatives of the 25 government agencies, public utilities and private groups who pledged to work together in February 2012.

Team members from Pattaya City Hall, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, the Provincial Waterworks Authority, CAT Telecom, Tourist Police, Redemptorist School, Office of Narcotics Control Board and other private clubs have worked to integrate and watch out for problems in order to craft emergency plans and cover all dimensions of problem solving.

Khomsan said the effort has paid off with management reorganizations within each organization, stronger connections between team members and aggressive work on collaboration to solve problems. Aware of the work that needs to be done, the Pattaya Team is making the city ready for the AEC, he said.

Itthiphol said the city Emergency Services Department has been direction organizations and drafting policies to develop solutions.
