Nongprue Sub-district hosted a training program to encourage residents to eat healthy food and keep fit.

The municipality’s Division of Public Health and Environment joined the Lak Yim Association to organize the Healthy Food for Healthy Living project. More than 50 office workers and local residents attended to hear a lecture from Nithiwet Wongmart.

“Eating healthier food can prevent the human body from various diseases. There are some things that we eat on a daily basis that we are not aware can really harm the body, like fast food, prepared meals, baked goods and sweets,” he said.

“There were no such things in the old days, but people in recent generation are focused on their health and experimenting what’s best for their health and what’s bad.”

He advised eating a healthy meal to start the day before 9 a.m.

“Having breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, especially if includes all five important food groups,” he said. “Breakfast is the energy source that supports the brain and is great for the digestive system to work properly.” (For an alternate view of the importance of breakfast, please see the PCEC write up “Keep weight off and prevent disease” on page 12.)

Daily exercise is also necessary for a healthy physical shape, he noted.

Various exercise methods were demonstrated as well as a variety of healthy and unhealthy samples of food. One of the other activities included how to make your own fruit shake.
