The Non-Formal School Confederation of Thailand held its first meeting Oct. 17 at Pattaya City Hall, with Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh welcoming representatives from area clubs representing businesses ranging from acting to hairdressers.

Confederation President Pornchai Pisarnsidkul said the group is aimed at connecting non-formal institutions in order to build public confidence in the quality of the schools, expand their services and adhere to government guidelines.
The group also will assist with marketing and advertising, including distribution career-development information. The confederation’s role is also to instruct school staff on ethics, morality, volunteering and cooperation in advance of Thailand’s 2015 entrance into the ASEAN Economic Community.
“Non-formal education is another route through which expert personnel are produced, becoming another factor in pushing the nation’s economy forward,” Ronakit said.
