Navy seizes 2 Vietnamese fishing boats, arrests 21

The Royal Thai Navy seized two Vietnamese fishing boats and 21 crewmembers trawling Thailand’s seas illegally.

Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center staffers aboard the HTMS Ratanakosin intercepted five Vietnamese boats near Koh Chuang, about 53 miles off the Sattahip coast, Jan. 9. Three of the vessels escaped.

In the past year, the Navy has seized 30 fishing boats from neighboring countries.
