Forty Chonburi residents received training on homeland security from the Internal Security Operational Command.

Rear Adm. Ronakorn Dulyarat directed the Feb. 6 workshop in Nong Maidaeng for residents of five villages. The aim is to allow residents to improve skills and protect themselves against troublemakers who might insult the monarchy. The volunteers would serve as informants to the government.

Trainers from relevant agencies lectured and offered field training to train the citizens on using weapons to defend their village against terrorists.

Ronakorn blamed the media for distorting threats against the government and monarchy, adding that volunteers could also assist in preventing the spread of drugs, illegal laborers, transnational crime and destruction of natural resources.
