HM the King honors marine killed in south

HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the Royal Family honored a Royal Thai Navy petty officer killed in Thailand’s south, ordering a dozen wreaths for the marine’s cremation.

Representing His Majesty, Chonburi Gov. Khomsan Ekachai laid 12 wreaths before the body of Marine Corps Petty Officer 1st Class Nadee Jumpawan at the naval cremation grounds Oct. 23.

Nadee was killed Oct. 21 while on patrol in Narathiwat. Muslim insurgents ambushed his vehicle, firing bullets and exploding two 5kg bombs attached to a 50kg cooking gas cylinder. He died of his injuries at Bajao Hospital.

Lt. Gen. Sonthaya Noichaya and Sattahip Mayor Phawat Lertmukda paid respects to the sailor’s family. Ekachai also gave family members financial assistance.
