Free ‘gold card’ health care now available to Thai Pattaya non-residents

Thais with homes registered outside Pattaya can now get free health coverage using their health-services gold card.

Thailand’s health system provides universal health care, but in order to take advantage of it, Thais must go to hospitals in their home towns, except in case of emergency.

Dr. Watcharawet Thongsuk says gold card holders will now be able to receive free dental, medical and preventative care treatment in Pattaya, even if they are not registered here. The National Health Security Office, however, recognized that many Thais working in Pattaya are not from the Eastern Seaboard and have made an exception to the normal policy.

Dr. Watcharawet Thongsuk of Asia Inter Clinic on Third Road said gold card holders will now be able to receive free dental, medical and preventative care treatment in Pattaya, even if they are not registered here.

Slots for the program are limited to the first 12,000 applicants however. In order to take advantage of the program, patients must call Asia Inter Clinic at 086-317-2419 or 086-379-7557.
