Flooding spoils Loy Krathong fun in Sattahip

Heavy rain and flooding spoiled the fun for Sattahip residents looking to celebrate Loy Krathong.

Even before Sattahip’s official celebration began at Chumphon Park Nov. 28, rain flooded Sukhumvit Road from the Sattahip intersection to the road’s origin point. About two kilometers of roadway were filled with 30 cm. of water, snarling traffic for festival goers.

Sattahip Councilman Surapol Jitthum said flooding is common on that stretch of Sukhumvit and he planned to call a council session to request a budget for larger drainage pipes.

Flooding in this area of Sattahip caused cancellation of their Loy Krathong festivities this year. Flooding in this area of Sattahip caused cancellation of their Loy Krathong festivities this year.
