A barbed wire fence has been placed around a stretch of Soi Arunothai previously used as a makeshift garbage dump that attracted the attention of residents, the city and local media.

The unidentified land owner of the parcel, which was cleaned up by the Pattaya Public Health and Environment May 15, strung about 50 meters of barbed wire around the plot after trash trucks departed.

Local residents thanked the land owner and city officials for ridding the neighborhood of the eyesore.

After the city finally cleaned up this area, which had been used as a free-for-all garbage dump for over a year, the owner put up a barbed wire fence to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Cement, wood, construction materials, rotting fruit and other garbage had been dumped nightly by six-wheeled commercial trucks for nearly a year but, other than posting “no dumping” signs, the city nothing to stop it until the Pattaya Mail highlighted the issue earlier this month.

Now, if you erected signs stating " Dumping is a jailable offense " and, on a tall pole hooked up a cctv camera the dumping will be minimized.

Even the fence has not stopped the dumping. there is a huge old bed mattress and other stuff stacked against the fence today!
