A drunk painter died after diving into Mabprachan Reservoir to hunt for snails.

The unnamed victim, in his 30s, was fished out of the lake by four divers May 28.

Tawee Simmakul, 45, said he met the victim the day previously at a construction camp. They had been drinking together and gotten hungry. The dead man decided to hunt for snails that he could grill as a snack.

The swimmer cut his jeans down to shorts, dived in and never surfaced.
