Driven to begging

While common in some larger cities in the west, beggars approaching motorists at stoplights have been virtually unseen in Pattaya until recently.

This man, spotted July 9, would wai and beg for money from stopped drivers. Some took pity, rolling down their window and donating money. But the scene not only creates a dangerous traffic situation, but damages the image of Pattaya.

Assumed to be homeless, this beggar and others in a similar situation deserve the attention of City Hall.

Begging in the middle of the street is dangerous. Begging in the middle of the street is dangerous.

Plenty of begging in second capital of Wales, UK.
    Can be quite threatening too.

    Hello,

"While common in some larger cities in the west" so if it's that common can you tell us where ?

I've seen it in bangkok for more then 20 years, don't you think you are imitating the famous ostrich.

The sheer impudence of ignoring your own problems is a concern for the future

Damage the Image of Pattaya? Walk a mile in this blokes shoes. Would you rather see him going through the garbage tins behind the Captains Corner etc? When you haven't eaten for a day or two do you expect him to care about "IMAGE"?
