Pattaya police officers turned down a 30,000 baht bribe from two suspected drug dealers and busted the woman allegedly offering up the cash.

In a city wide sweep, police rounded up 9 suspected drug dealers before making an undercover purchase from motorcycle taxi driver Khamphong Butsri, 43, and housemate Somkanokkorn Haramee, 46, at their apartment on Soi Sethi in South Pattaya July 5. Five methamphetamine tablets, 1,200 baht and household appliances allegedly bought with drug-sale revenue were seized.

Police said during the arrest the two suspects offered to pay officers 30,000 baht to let them go. Police played along as Khunpong telephoned Thidathit Pannaengphet, 62. She arrived with the 30,000 baht and police arrested her on attempted bribery charges.

The other two suspects face the same charges along with drug possession with intent to sell.

All 12 suspects have been remanded in custody for further legal proceedings.
