Lt. Col. Ratt Prathumkaew, acting chief of the Children and Women Protection Center Police Region 2, and Piyanaroth Poonipant, head of the Chonburi Family and Children Shelter, met with committee members at Banglamung Police Station Oct. 29 to talk about Medical and Psychosocial Services for Children in Especially Difficult Circumstances (CEDC).
An international contingent of committee members from Save the Children Sweden meets in Banglamung to review local efforts to protect women and children from physical and mental abuse.
Ratt narrated a presentation on past efforts to arrest suspects involving women and children to allow victims to return to a normal life. He fielded questions on problems and obstacles in helping children and women who are victims of violence in Thailand.
The committee is comprised of social workers, teachers, and public health experts from Sweden, South Africa, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand. They were in Thailand at part of the Swedish International Development Agency’s tour from Oct. 25-Nov. 2.
