Chonburi concludes 30 human-trafficking cases

The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security organized a meeting in Chonburi to prevent and solve human-trafficking issues.

Chonburi Deputy Gov. Chamnarnvit Taerat presided over the Jan. 15 National Operation Center for Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking meeting in Chonburi City Hall.

Local ministry officials were ordered to hold monthly meetings to solve and prevent human-trafficking through litigation, law enforcement, protection, prevention, and policies aimed at fostering cooperation in the region.

The meeting concluded work begun in November consisting of 30 cases, 29 of which involved sex trafficking. Cases involved 24 Thais, 3 Burmese and 6 Laotian nationals.

The meeting was aimed at educating and notifying foreign laborers, village chiefs, sheriffs, community leaders and police to improve cooperation.
