The chief justice of the Central Labor Court and three family members were hurt when their car plunged off an elevated section of Highway 7 in Pattaya.

Rescuers had to use the jaws of life to cut Phanthep Premprasertsukh, 52, from his bronze Toyota Camry below the highway near the Million Years Stone Part & Pattaya Crocodile Farm after midnight Oct. 8. Phanthep’s wife, Ampaipan Suwanthawil, 42, and their 5- and 10-year old children sustained minor injuries. All were transported to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for treatment.

Back on the highway, police also found a smashed Toyota Vios pickup truck and a shaken, but unhurt, Aathit Aaj-asa, 30, and his wife.

Aathit explained he’d been traveling to Pattaya from Sriracha when his brakes locked and he slammed into the highway guardrail, but did not go over.

Police speculated that Phanthep, driving behind Aathit, was unable to stop in time and swerved, crashing through the guardrail.
