About 40 Central Festival Pattaya Beach employees practiced how to handle fuel leaks and fight fires during an emergency-preparedness drill at the beachfront mall.

Central regional director Saran Tantijamnaj opened the Sept. 27 training session with police and store executives on hand.

Thanet Sawangsree, senior manager for losses prevention, led the training exercise in the sixth-floor parking lot, which covered leaking fuel from parked vehicles, people threatening to jump from the high-rise or terrorist attacks. He also discussed extinguishing oil, gas and electrical fires.

Thanet said the mall organizes four training sessions a year due to its belief in the importance of safety. The training and practice session has been organized for the benefit of employees who would be faced with protecting shoppers.
