Brothers arrested on loan-sharking charges

Two brothers allegedly working as loan sharks were arrested after one reportedly took a slow-paying customer’s air conditioner.

Anurak Sukhkasem, 29, and his brother Theerapong Sukhkasem, 24, were captured July 6 near Second Road and Soi 8 where they operated their Khwa Chain Thun loan operation. Police confiscated 2,170 baht, 43 receipts, 110 name cards, two ledgers and a motorcycle.

The arrest came after a masseuse filed a complaint with police that she had borrowed money from the brothers at a 20 percent interest rate. When fell behind on payments, she alleged, Theerapong took her air conditioner as payment.

The two were charged with illegal money lending and threatening customers who didn’t pay.
