Former Culture Minister Sukumol Kunplome and Sucharit Patchimnan, former permanent secretary for the Ministry of Interior, joined Banglamung District Chief Sakchai Taengho at the event, which would expand the 24-rai hospital to 29 rai. The additional land behind the hospital will house the new inpatient center which treats 700,000 patients a year.
The 41 million baht was raised through private donations, the largest of which - 10 million baht each - were donated by Chao Jiramongkol and Siajai Phachuenchaikit.
Banglamung Hospital was founded as a second-level sanitation center in 1938 at the Old Naklua Market. As Banglamung grew, the number of patients increased and it was promoted to first-level sanitation center in 1967.
