Police recovered one fake UOB and two bogus Citibank ATM cards, as well as a British passport identifying Stanberry as Northern Ireland native Brod Thomas.

Under interrogation, the American senior citizen led police to his Soi Buakaow hotel room where the real passport was recovered.

Police said Stanberry confessed to buying the cards and passport on Bangkok’s Khaosan Road with the intent of stealing from banks and using a fake identity to aid his escape.
