Sattahip Mayor Phawat Lertmukda said he’d received complaints that someone from the office had been soliciting businesses for 15,000 baht donations to the “11th Anti-Drug Football Tournament,” presenting an official-looking government document carrying Phawat’s name.
Yes, that’s the guy who scammed us. Victims point to con artist Saran Mokkhasak.
More than 100 businesses were scammed, the mayor said.
Police said Saran confessed, admitting he’d recently been released from prison where he served time for forgery. Police said he also admitted to other schemes, such as supposedly being able to arrange military transfers or help students pass university exams.
