60 train as civil-defense volunteers in Nongprue

Sixty Nongprue residents trained to become civil-defense volunteers to supplement the area’s fire and police departments.

Mayor Mai Chaiyanit opened the March 10 session with deputy clerk Pramote Tabtim outlining the responsibilities of volunteers.

Civil-defense volunteers, he said, participate in disaster mitigation, such as during a fire, alongside public officers.

Theory and practical training was held for five days with lecturers from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office of Chonburi, the Meteorological Station, Nongprue Police Station, Laem Chabang Port, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, the Naval Recruit Training Center and Nongprue Municipality Office.
