Police seized more than 4,000 methamphetamine tablets and 13 suspected drug users and dealers during a much-publicized one-day sweep by more than 400 police officers through Pattaya.

Police also arrested Warathip Phoohongchai, 30, with 0.3 g. of ya ice, and 11 other alleged drug users. Officers also rounded up 40 homeless people and 20 street vendors peddling goods to tourists.

Chonburi Provincial Police commander Maj. Gen. Khatcha Thatsart dispatched the swarm of Chonburi Immigration, Office of the Narcotics Control Board, administrative and regular police officers from the parking lot of the defunct X-Zyte disco, focusing mostly on Third Road.

The goal of the sweep was to search for firearms, drugs, illegal items and tourist scammers. Khatcha called the results “satisfactory,” but promised future sweeps.
