Thailand’s four Eastern Seaboard provinces are promoting the area to tourists by offering low-cost hotels and other deals during a beachfront festival in Pattaya through Friday evening.

Officials from Chonburi, Rayong, Chantaburi and Trat launched the 5th Eastern Fair on Beach Road Aug. 2. It ends 11 p.m. Aug. 5.

Themed “Colorful East, Color Your Life,” the festival showcases businesses from Koh Chang to Koh Larn, Koh Samet to Koh Kood. Organizers Image Holiday (Thailand) said both Thai and foreign tourists would find something to interest them.

Culture Minister Sukumol Kunplome opened the event. A parade and art and culture show followed with performances about eastern-region fishermen and Muay Thai boxing.
