149 trained as public-health volunteers in Chonburi

Nearly 150 new public-health volunteers received training before being dispatched to three Chonburi districts.

Udomsak Charoenwut, vice president of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, presided over the second round of training for 149 “village health volunteers” at Bankao Sub-district offices in Panthong June 16-20.

Of the group, 69 volunteers will work in Panthong, 44 in Phanat Nikom and 36 in Bothong.

Udomsak said the Chonburi PAO wants to empower the public-health workforce by having people work as leaders in conducting activities to promote health in communities. Currently, though, it is facing a shortage of volunteers to cover the continuously growing population. Therefore it held the training to produce new volunteers for the services.

The training covered personality, human relations, code of ethics for healthcare workers, self-discipline and teamwork. Ten days of practical training on-site followed.
