Pattaya police averted a teenage gang war when they raided an illegal pub where more than 130 underage boys and girls were found drinking.

Police were called to the Zood pub across from Soi Arunothai School around 3 a.m. Dec. 7. There they found 30 under-18 teenagers waiting for young rivals to emerge from the unnamed bar, with the intent of attacking them.

After dispersing the crowd, more than 50 officers and volunteers stormed the pub, finding 82 boys and 49 girls inside. Most escaped, but police rounded up a few and brought them back to Pattaya Police Station.

The pub’s owners, operating without a license, escaped and are being pursued.

The teens got a warning and were released to their parents. Meanwhile, police plan to shut down the bar and arrest the owners for serving minors.
