1 killed as thunderstorm topples trees in Naklua

One woman died and two men were injured when a violent thunderstorm dropped a tree through the roof of their Naklua home.

Swai Kuweantrai, 66, suffered a skull fracture, internal bleeding and broken bones in the May 15 accident at the Naklua Soi 12 house. Seven family members were watching television around 11 p.m. when the storm plunged broken branches into the house.

The following day, Pattaya Permanent Secretary Pakorn Sukhonthachat and officials from the city engineering and social welfare departments visited three homes on Soi 12 and Soi 23 damaged by the storm, presenting Swai’s relatives with 5,000 baht in relief funds.

They then visited two houses in Niwet Village damaged by falling trees and were given bags of relief supplies.
