Eleven university students had to be rescued from a stuck elevator at a Jomtien Beach hotel earlier this week.

Pattaya police were called to the Chateau Dale Hotel Spa Resort and Villa on Thappraya Road on Monday Feb. 7.  There they found an elevator stuck between floors with nearly a dozen panicked Thammasart University freshmen inside, shouting and banging for help.

Overcrowded and over-weighted, the elevator had fallen off its automatic track and gotten stuck between floors.  Neither the hotel nor police had tools to open it.  Experts from the city first aid and safety prevention unit were called to assist.

After being freed unhurt, the teens said they’d come to the hotel to survey its use for a youth camp, but when they got in the elevator it stopped below the fourth floor.  Needless to say, the students now plan to find another hotel to host their camp.
