Money cures everything

Dear Hillary,

I hope you will have a good year in your attic (I think you called it a garret one week). It must be difficult dealing with all the problems that people seem to get into living here. You do suggest they read some books, but I don’t think they can all read. Confusing love with money seems to be the commonest problem. Any wise suggestions for 2018?

Dear Grant,

How much money do you have rolling around without a home piggy bank to put it in? I can help you and lighten the load. Those thousand baht notes can get quite heavy. Especially when there’s a few hundred thousand up for grabs. A few hundred thousands has more buying power than the warm feelings that “love” will bring you. You want some wise words on how to live in Pattaya? No problem, just stay indoors, don’t answer the door bell, don’t drive your car (if the police don’t get you, then the motorcycles will) and don’t walk on the footpaths during the day, and finally don’t walk on the footpaths at night. Other than those niggly restrictions, Pattaya is still the freewheeling city it always was.

Guys , looking for love in Thailand is, as they say is, barking up the wrong tree. The Thai mind is antipodal to anyone cultured in the west. You do not share a Thai woman’s intimate thoughts, share her humor, her expectations of meeting societal norms…ie: Buddha, King, nation, family…..everything is entirely differant. You Sir….are her job…you have nothing in common….and like employees everywhere, they’ll change jobs from time to time without proper notice. Friends ….learn to live here…..and find freedom…..the Three ‘F’s of living in a whore in town. ” Find them…..F**k them…..and Fling them out the door”…..happiness forever.
