The Jesters Annual Charity Children’s Fair will take place at the Diana Garden Resort & Driving Range on Sunday, Sept. 11 with traditional competitions for the kids, bouncy castles, shows and entertainment courtesy of local schools and Grammy artists, plus arts and crafts, Thai and European food stalls and much more.  All the proceeds go to aid the Jesters Care for Kids Charity Drive.  For more details, go to www.care4kids.info.

The Regent’s School Pattaya is hosting the ‘Picnic in the Park for Peace’ music event on Sunday September 18 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Father Ray Children’s Village, at Siam Country Club.  The event commemorates the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and promotes peace through bringing together communities through music.  The event will be featuring performances from the Good Child Foundation, Regent’s Soul Band, Father Ray Children’s Choir and many, many more… There will also be a bouncy castle and a playground for children, fun painting and car track, peace lanterns, children’s sparklers and clowns and jugglers.  Bring a picnic basket and your singing voice!  Entrance is 100 baht per adult and 50 baht per child.  For more information email Karen at [email protected]

Ric O’Barry, star of the movie “The Cove”, will be a special guest at the Regent’s School on Friday 30th September.  He will introduce his controversial movie “The Cove” and then take questions once it has finished.  All those interested are invited to come along for the talk which begins at 6.30 p.m. at the Globe Theatre towards the front of the school.  This is a free event.  If you cannot make Friday 30th September, Ric will also be appearing at the weekly Pattaya Expats Club meeting on Sunday 2nd October.  For more information email [email protected]

Clubs and Associations

The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, September 11.  Everyone is warmly welcome.  Phra Mick Ratanapanyo Bhikkhu will speak on the topics of ‘All of our enemies are in our minds’ and ‘The Meaning of Life.’  Phra Mick is a Thai-born Australian monk who currently resides in Bangkok.  The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. The program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone.  The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community.  English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.  All calls will be handled on an anonymous basis and are free of charge.  Please call (02) 713-6791 (24hrs a day, 7 days a week).

Linda’s Restaurant can be all things for all people.
