Events

Ric O’Barry, star of the movie “The Cove”, will be a special guest at the Regent’s School on Friday 30th September.  He will introduce his controversial movie “The Cove” and then take questions once it has finished.  All those interested are invited to come along for the talk which begins at 6.30 p.m. at the Globe Theatre towards the front of the school.  This is a free event.  If you cannot make Friday 30th September, Ric will also be appearing at the weekly Pattaya Expats Club meeting on Sunday 2nd October.  For more information email [email protected]

Able the Disabled Foundation will be holding a Country Fair at Horseshoe Point, Pattaya on October 1-2 and stalls are available for vendors to showcase their products.  Fair games for children will be running from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and food sponsors will be selling plenty of delights for all the family.  The main event will be a Country & Western Night on Saturday 1st October from 6.30 p.m. – 11 p.m. at the Hotel Grand Arena Horseshoe Point.  Tickets are available at THB500 adults and THB250 children.  Live country music will be performed by Barry Upton including his top hit 5.6.7.8.  During the evening John Collingborne will be presenting a live auction and other events on the night include a raffle, silent auction and lucky door prizes.  For more information and/or for ticket reservation call 086 8483684 (Eng).

Pattaya’s annual Vegetarian Festival is taking place from Sept. 26 – Oct. 6 at the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Naklua.  As in previous years, the highlight of the event will be the vegetarian cooking, parades and popular entertainment.  The festival will also feature a colourful Chinese dragon parade and processions of Chinese gods.

The Lighthouse Club Pattaya will be holding a charity networking event at Thai Garden Resort on Friday, 7th October from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Admission is THB 300 for all ladies and voucher-members, THB 600 for all non-members.  Finger-food buffet and a free-flow of beer and wine will be available as long as stock lasts.  Following the event the party will continue at the Moon River Pub with an exciting night of live music provided by the popular Power Jam Band from the Philippines.  The management of the Thai Garden Resort will offer every guest the 1st drink free of charge only for local beer, house wine, juice or soft drink, by providing them with a free drink coupon for redemption.  For more information email [email protected]

Clubs and Associations

The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, October 2.  Everyone is warmly welcome.  The Club will have a very special speaker, Ric O’Barry, whose documentary film The Cove about the slaying of dolphins in Japan received an Oscar nomination.  He will be talking about his organization’s efforts to save dolphins.  The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. The program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya.
