Announcements

Due to the concerns at Shrewsbury School of flooding on the high tide due on the 26th November - Fair Day – the organizers of the annual Ploenchit Fair have decided to move this year’s event to the Bangkok Patana School - location map available on www.patana.ac.th.  Transport to the school can be on the skytrain to Bang Na station and then there will be a free shuttle bus service to and from the school.  There is also ample car parking available.

Events

A special Flood Relief music concert organized by Seed 97.5FM will be held on Pattaya Beach Road, Soi 4, on Saturday, November 26 featuring top rock artists from around Thailand, including Ice Saranyu, Dan Woradej, Sqweez Animal, Superbaker, and Slot Machine.  Tickets can be obtained from the concert staff at the booth on the G floor of Central Festival Pattaya Beach between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Margot Weinmann from the National Museum Volunteers of Bangkok will be conducting a lecture on Thai culture titled “The Peoples of Thailand” at the North Star Library, Pattaya on Friday 25 November starting at 10 a.m.  The lecture will take you back in time to explore how “Thainess” developed over the centuries and discuss where the different peoples may have come from that we now know as Thais.  Admission is open to everyone and is by donation of 100 baht (to the library) payable at the door.

A Northern Soul Charity Event will be held on Friday, November 25 at “Play” Club (formerly Goodfellas) on Walking Street to raise funds for the Mercy Centre Pattaya.  The event starts at 8 p.m., going on until midnight with a 300 baht cover charge at the door

A free music concert will take place this Sunday, November 27 at Naklua’s Larn Pho market from 5 p.m. onwards with the entertainment being provided by various Thai country bands.  It is hoped that local residents will attend to provide a show of unity and support in the face of the ongoing troubling times being endured by the nation and to celebrate the upcoming birthday of His Majesty the King, which takes place next month.

The Movers & Shakers corporate charity-network event will be held on Friday 2nd December from 6 p.m. till midnight at the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort (Wong-Amart Beach) in Pattaya.  A large number of distinguished guests are expected to attend and enjoy a night of excellent networking, top-entertainment and food & drinks.  All proceeds will be donated to the Lighthouse Club (LHC) Pattaya with its charity-beneficiary: The Melissa Cosgrove Children Foundation (MCCF).  For more information, go to www.moversshakerscharity.com.

The Rotary Club Eastern Seaboard Pattaya will be holding its Christkindl Fair 2011 at the Diana Garden Resort on Pattaya North Road on Saturday, December 3rd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Exhibitors will be showcasing their wares to allow visitors, both big and small, to get into the traditional Christmas mood and begin their early Xmas shopping, and there will be a surprise visit by Santa to please all the kids.  The fair Tombola includes some fabulous prizes including a mini-break to Phuket for 2 persons, and a Suzuki Smash motorcycle, and tickets cost just 50 baht.  All the proceeds from the event will go to help the Rotary Club with its charitable projects helping poor communities and destitute families throughout the Kingdom.

Pattaya Beach Road will be playing host to an International Fireworks Competition on December 16-17 in honor of the 84th Birthday of His Majesty the King.  Displays teams from around the world will be competing along a 3km stretch of Pattaya Bay.  Other events will also precede the firework show kicking off at 3 p.m.  It promises to be a spectacle not to be missed.

Clubs and Associations

The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, November 27.  Everyone is warmly welcome.  The topic will be about the features of the latest hearing aids.  The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. The program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya.
