I only spend money on things that make the children happy, so this year I started by sponsoring a Christmas party for more than 100 children, teachers and sponsors, as well as three Roman Catholic bishops who attended. Each child received a Christmas card from me with 100 baht inside.
A day at the beach.
Next, thanks to the support of American Jim Frederiksson, I purchased two computers customized for the blind. These are now in use at the Latkrabang Center for Handicapped Children.
Next was a trip to Underwater World in Pattaya, followed by an afternoon at the beach, which included snacks, drinks and then dinner at a beach restaurant. It was a really great day out enjoyed by all 60 children.
On my last weekly visit before returning to the United Kingdom I presented the funds to pay for True Visions satellite television for the year.
Finally, we staged a “disco party” at the Rolling Stone Bar on Walking Street, sponsored by owners Garry and Noi Strickleton. Noi rallied her friends from other bars and restaurants to provide the food, ice cream and goodies for the children.
Garry’s resident band came in and played for more than two hours and the children had a great time, all leaving with a large bag of goodies and a number of 20 baht notes each.
