A World Bank delegate has praised the Thai government’s role in facilitating the ease in doing business during his visit to Thailand, says a government spokesman.

Acting Country Director for the World Bank to Thailand Constantine Chikosi led a team of researchers to meet with Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha at the government house in Bangkok.

He said the Prime Minister has assured World Bank delegates on the government’s efforts to solve issues in Thailand, including national reform, and the restoration of democracy at a determined time frame, with a general election expected soon in the future.

The Prime Minister presented Thailand’s economic stimulus efforts with particular encouragement to SME businesses, the improvement of investment atmosphere and basic infrastructure, and developments in the agricultural sector.

He said the Thai government is willing to work with the World Bank and is open to all suggestions, while the World Bank should prioritize decreasing the development gap between countries.
