BANGKOK, July 25 — Thailand’s earnings from exports in June totaled about US$20.47 billion, up 7.2 per cent year-on-year, according to Chutima Boonyaprapat, permanent secretary for Commerce.

Also, earnings in June were highest since the beginning of 2014, said Ms Chutima, adding that the increase should be considered as a positive sign. Thailand’s exports from now on are expected to continue increasing.

She said the sharp rise in exports in June resulted from the economic recovery of Thailand’s key trading partners, especially the US and Europe, the global economic recovery and proactive measures adopted by the Ministry’s International Trade Promotion Department under the policy of the National Council for Peace and Order.

Expressing optimism, Ms Chutima said she believed Thailand’s exports this year would expand and meet the targeted growth of 3.5 per cent.

She said the International Trade Promotion Department would disclose details Monday on how to achieve the target.
